Saving original ceilings & walls

Lath and plaster ceilings are a beautiful part of older homes, but time, movement and past water damage can leave them cracked, bowed or coming away from the laths. The instinct is often to rip it all out — but in many cases the original can be saved or carefully reinstated to match.

I assess what's there honestly: securing sound areas, replacing failed laths and rebuilding plaster coats with breathable, traditional materials. Where a section is beyond repair, new work is matched to the old so the finished ceiling reads as one.

Sympathetic, lasting repairs

From a single cracked ceiling in a Chichester townhouse to wider works in a period cottage near Selsey, I take the time to do lath & plaster repair properly — protecting the rooms below and leaving a clean, sound finish ready for decoration.
